(Westminster, MD) – Are you concerned that elected officials exhibit unconstitutional behavior? Register today for our U.S. Constitution Class designed to educate candidates, incumbents, and voters on the role of the U.S. Constitution. Discover our founders’ view of law and government. Obtain a working knowledge of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Be able to hold our representatives accountable.

This non-partisan two-day class explains the concepts contained within the Constitution that the founding fathers developed to restrain uncontrolled government thereby insuring liberty for our citizens. These are concepts of governmental constraint which have been lost and ignored by legislators for decades and must be rediscovered and supported so we can bring our governmental spending, lawmaking and growth under control.

This class is offered by the Institute on the Constitution(IOTC) and is normally a 12 week course. We are offering this condensed but complete course over two days to give busy candidates, incumbents, and voters those tools needed to continue a sound government based on the principles we were founded upon. The IOTC is an educational effort through the law office of Peroutka & Peroutka of Pasadena, MD that intends to reconnect U.S. citizens to the history of the American Republic and to their heritage of freedom under law.

Place: 12 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD 21157.

Date/Time: Friday, July 30 at 5:00-9:00pm and Saturday, July 31 at 9:00am-9:00pm.

That next bar tab or trip to the liquor store is going to cost you significantly more if the chuckleheads in Annapolis get their way. House Bill 832 would raise taxes on Beer by as much as 1189%. Oh and don’t fret wine and liquor connoisseurs they didn’t forget about you.

569 % Increase in distilled spirits

640% Increase in Wine

1189% Increase in Beer

HOUSE BILL 832

“Increasing the State tax rates for alcoholic beverages sold in Maryland from $1.50 to $10.03 per gallon for distilled spirits, from 40 cents to $2.96 per gallon for wine, and from 9 cents to $1.16 per gallon for beer; providing for the distribution of the additional revenue to special funds to be used only for the purpose of providing additional funding for specified health services; etc.”

http://mlis.state.md.us/2010rs/billfile/HB0832.htm

Note: The wording on the bills main page says per gallon and the wording in the actual bill says per liter. That’s a pretty big difference since 1 gallon = 3.78541178 liters.

They are calling it the “Firearm Safety Act of 2010″but the title is nothing more than a cheap political maneuver. Politicians are increasingly willing to twist the truth or outright lie to push their agendas because they believe the people are too ignorant or too stupid to read past the title of a bill. I’m sure other names for the bill were considered, maybe the “Orphan Children with Cancer and Cuddly Fuzzy Puppy Protection act of 2010″? I mean who would vote against Children and Puppies right? I have a better idea, call the bill what it is, call it the ”Invasion of Privacy and Constitutional Violation Act of 2010″. The bill reads like a dictators manifesto durring a time of war. This bill would authorize the Government of Maryland to tap your phone, read your email and secretly record your conversations, all in the name of firearm safety, George Orwell would be proud. The “Firearm Safety Act of 2010″ has nothing to do with firearms safety and everything to do the with politicians separating law abiding citizens from their guns by any means necessary. Much like a drivers license this bill would also require law abiding citizens to apply for a Government issued permit to purchase a firearm. A permit that is not free, needs to be constantly renewed, requires you to take a test, requires fingerprints and comes with strings attached. That’s right you will have to apply and pay for the Governments permission to own a firearm. If enacted the ability to purchase a firearm would become a revocable privilege and not a right. It would also double the amount of paperwork that gun dealers need to file with the Maryland State Police, paperwork that is already required by Federal Law. There are matching bills filled in the House and the Senate. Maybe someone should let the sponsors of the bills Senator Frosh And Delegate Rosenberg know that the right to bear arms is a right guaranteed by the US constitution and it was recently reaffirmed by the supreme court. Their contact info is listed below, send them an Email and let them know how you feel, but don’t worry if this bill passes they will already know, Big Brother will be watching.

If this bill contains the same nonsensical language as last year’s bill then it would ban 90% of the firearms owned and sold in Maryland. Not just the “scary” looking ones either. This bill would put thousands of people out of work in the midst of a recession and infringe on rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution (and reaffirmed by the Supreme Court I might add).

Here is a list of the Politicians who think they can take away your Constitutional Rights. I don’t look at this as a list of Co-Sponsors of a bill, I see it as a list of people who need to be unemployed. Take a moment and let them know how you feel.

The article I’ve linked to gives only one reason..and a good one at that…why all the Democrats have got to go. And this is both on the national level and the state level. Their philosophy, as stated by Steny Hoyer, that the purpose of people earning a living is just so they can pay taxes/support the government only goes to show just how arrogant they are, how much contempt they hold for the citizens of this country and just how much they view us as being their servants.

And truth be told, these viewpoints are not confined to the Democrats. There is large number of Republicans who view the citizens as serfs as well.

I really hope that the voters will correct a mistake they made in the past two elections, both on the national level and state level. They did not vote most on the incumbents out like they should have. Hopefully they will this year.

I was able to make the Tea Party event this past Wednesday night in Annapolis and I thought it was well attended and quite good. Unfortunately, some of the speakers could not be heard over those in the audience…even in spite of having a sound system to use.

Of course, even though it was estimated that over 2,000 people attended, and the photos in the message I received and uploaded reflect this, apparently the local news programs gave the event the required report of being insignificant. Like for instance, channel 45, Baltimore, said the event was attended by hundreds, gave about 1 minute of air time and did not include any sound bites from the speakers. Oh well. Typical biased media.

However, I’m sure O’Malley, if he was man enough to stay home that night, knew there was more than just hundreds who attended the event and just what the speakers had to say.

Below is a message I received from the Campaign for Liberty that gives a brief summary of the event.

On Wednesday night, January 13, 2010 approximately 2,600 Marylanders braved freezing temperatures to attend a Tea Party at this year’s opening session of the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis. Maryland residents are still reeling from the largest tax increase in the state’s history in 2007, which included raising the state sales tax to $.06 on the dollar. Many Maryland businesses have recently been hit with a 300% increase in their state unemployment tax rate. Despite this and numerous other recent tax increases the state still faces a projected 2 billion dollar shortfall this year. Marylanders have had enough and assembled Wednesday night to say “no” to runaway spending and irresponsible state government.

This event was sponsored by a broad based coalition of activist groups from around the state including the Americans for Prosperity, Maryland Taxpayers Association, and a host of local Tea Party Organizations. Maryland Campaign for Liberty was a proud co-sponsor of this event.

Scores of Campaign for Liberty members from chapters around the state attended to participate and spread the liberty message. In the photo above the C4L literature tent can be seen in the bottom right hand corner. The street at the bottom of the picture is where buses from 12 locations throughout Maryland arrived. As citizens stepped from the buses they were greeted by C4L members with literature.

Speakers at the rally included two Campaign for Liberty members from Harford County. One spoke about Harford’s Tea Party movement success last year in reducing the County budget, lowering the property tax rate, and lowering the property tax increase cap. The other spoke about congressional redistricting, and gerrymandering, which the party in power in Maryland has used to debase the vote of its citizens.

Organizers hope that Wednesday night’s successful rally is just the first of several Tea Parties which will be held in Annapolis during the current legislative session.
